Raj does the moon-walk

Reports filtering in from Khandala suggest that the Shilpa Shetty Raj Kundra sangeet on Saturday night was one rollicking affair.

The actual marriage yesterday was a quiet and solemn ceremony. But people are still talking about the Saturday night fever in the hills.

It began with the mehendi in the morning. Shilpa, naturally, had an ‘R’ inscribed on her mehendied palms for Raj to discover at the function in her friend Kiran Bawa’s bungalow. Then, dhin-chak followed in the evening as the sangeet got underway to a riotous Bollywood beat.

Bridesmaid Shamita Shetty danced to elder sister Shilpa’s songs. Along with newcomer Jackky Bhagnani, Shamita performed a skit in which she played Shilpa and Jackky did his best to act as the reticent Raj. Kiran and her brother got into the act as well and played Shilpa’s parents.

Then came the dancing choreographed by Ganesh Hegde in which the groom moonwalked to Michael Jackson’s numbers and also danced like Saif Ali Khan to Aahun Aahun from Love Aaj Kal. The grand finale had the bride shaking her famous booty with the rest of the baraati to Om Shanti Om. The excitement shifts to Mumbai tomorrow for the grand reception.

Simha Releases for Sankranthi?

Hollywood bombshell Eva Mendes is planning to scribble a love letter for her idol Kate Winslet appreciating her acting talents.

The ’Hitch’ actress admitted that she’s a huge fan of the Oscar winning actress’ work, but she has never had the chance to tell her in person, Contactmusic reported.

"She never allows herself to get pigeon holed and she’s always stretching herself. She’s done nudity in so many of her films, yet she’s not known for that; she’s known for her work. She goes there as an actress and really, to me, she’s untouchable," Mendes said. The 35 year old actress whose recent underwear ad on a billboard had angered the locals in New York feels penning a love letter is now the only way out for her.

"I’ve actually never met her and I’m thinking, ’Maybe it’s time to write her a little love letter.’ She can do no wrong in my eyes," Mendes added.

Mega Magadheera 100 Days Function @ Rs 3 Crores

The mega blockbuster ‘Magadheera’ recently reached another milestone when it completed 100 days successfully. The film has created history not just in the Telugu circuit but throughout the nation given its genre and the visual impact. Now, another impact is likely from producer Allu Aravind.

There is news that Aravind and his team have decided that the 100 day celebration would be happening in a mind blowing manner. This time, the place would be Hyderabad and sources reveal that the event is being organized at a budget of a whopping Rs 3 crores.

The makers want to send another statement that no film would have celebrated their 100 day completion like this. So it could well be that ‘Magadheera’ would be creating a new record there as well, given the budget and the grand plans for the event. The date has been set as December 19th.

Rajinikanth’s Robot to Touch 165 crore's

Director shankar always does a big budget projects and he is certainly one of the untouched directors of Indian cinema. He is directing a Rajinikanth’s upcoming science fiction ‘Endhiran’ (Robot in Telugu), which was thought to be made at a budget of about Rs 100 crore, seems to cost much more than estimated.

It is said that the film may now exceed a massive budget of Rs 165 crore. This is undoubtedly the highest budget film ever made in the Indian cinema. The buzz is that the cost of one particular song in the film had reached Rs 30 crore.

Robot has south Indian superstar Rajinikanth romancing former miss world Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Action king Arjun is said to play a key role in the film. J D Chakravarthy is playing the role of the villain for this magnum opus. The film is set for 2010 release. The films background score and music is composed by Oscar award winner A R Rahman.

Kurbaan Review: Serious Film With Sensible Story

For the first time, the off screen love birds Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are pairing up and the expectations are high since it is also coming from Karan Johar. While the posters created a bit of controversy, here is a look at whether the film is worth or not.

Story:
A love tale ridden with terror, the story begins on the backdrop of a university in Delhi and here is Avantika (Kareena), a professor who returns from New York to see her ailing father and joins the university. Her life takes a turn with the joining of the new professor Ehsaan Khan (Saif) and in no time, he manages to woo her and win her heart as well. Soon, Avantika gets a call to return to New York and Ehsaan offers to join her.

They get married, take a home, find new Muslim neighbors and even visit their place for dinner. One day, Salma (Nauheed) comes to Avantika and asks for help as her life is in danger. Soon, Avantika is exposed to a vicious layer of plots and realizes that she was just a part of it. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Performances: Saif Ali Khan:
He has come up with a decent performance and looked apt with the icy look. Unlike his energy driven performances, this was rather calm and suited the character.

Kareena Kapoor:
She looks beautiful and has enacted the emotional scenes very well. However, she needs to put an extra ounce of flesh on her body, that would make her look even more charming. She looks trendy.

Om Puri:
He is the best bet for such a role and though he looks too elegant for a fundamentalist, his cold stare and heavy dialogue delivery sure makes him look like the perfect mastermind.

Vivek Oberoi:
His character had depth and intensity and Vivek carried his role with élan, his expressions during the serious scenes were impact creating.

Kirron Kher:
She carries her role with elegance and her presence was felt strongly on the screen. There is maturity in her performance and her screen chemistry is effective.

Dia Mirza
Her role was brief but she looks pretty though she doesn’t have that Muslim girl look.

Others:
Nauheed looks sweet but scary after she is dead, the American actors were good, Akash Khurana just came and went, Kulbushan Kharbanda shines for few seconds.

Analysis:
This is like any other film on terrorism but with US backdrop. The movie Newyork, The Wednesday, Mani Rathnam’s Roja etc fall in this genre but every thing has its own convincing line of narration with set characters. Kurbaan is one such film.

The main drawback in this film is it has got no much energy in narration and less thrilling moments as it’s quite predictable for audiences those who have used to this kind of films. The plus side in this film is that t has got horripilate background score that pulls audiences to screens with pin drop silence.

There is a message in this film for girls especially ‘Don’t blindly allow your new found lovers to fly along with you to any country as dependant. Your life may get screwed”

On a whole, the commercial quotient in this film is meager although it has got a hot nude song, that pulls a set of crowds. Otherwise, it is a good film with no great features.

Victoria Beckham has revealed the secret behind her blissful married life she sleeps naked and can’t resist a nightly dose of sex when she and soccer hubby David hit the sack.

When quizzed if she prefers sleep or sex in an interview with Allure, Posh replied: Sex I’m getting into bed with David Beckham every night, so, you know, there’d be something wrong if I said ’sleep’.
